Glenwood has purchased three buildings in Avondale as a part of its capital campaign.
The three facilities will house the new Glenwood Education and Early Intervention Center, which will provide services for individuals with autism spectrum disorder and will house clinicians who will evaluate and diagnose mental health concerns including autism.
The properties are located at 3721 Sixth Ave. S., 620 38th St. S. and 608 38th St. S.
The new buildings, which will be renovated, will have space for an Applied Behavior Analysis Clinic, services for speech and occupational therapies and social skills training.
“Thanks to generous donors, Glenwood’s capital campaign is increasing access to the renowned services the nonprofit has provided families in Alabama for four decades,” said D. Lee Yount, Glenwood’s president and CEO. “The new outpatient treatment and education center will expand Glenwood’s renowned services and locate them in the heart of Birmingham for easier access by those who need the services. The campaign is also increasing residential capacity for children and adults, expanding services and creating an amphitheater and arts center.”
The “Renowned Care, Renewed Hope: Campaign for Glenwood” capital campaign, which is the largest in the nonprofit’s 43 years in Alabama, has raised $9.4 million of its $10 million goal.
The Avondale facilities will be in addition to the main campus at 150 Glenwood Lane as well as locations in Huntsville and Montgomery. Through the locations Glenwood impacts the lives of more than 7,000 people every year.
