Sam Carroll, SIOR of Graham & Company represented the purchaser of this prime location near Railroad Park.
Developers have purchased a high-profile property in the Parkside district.
Leaders for local development firm Orchestra Partners confirmed they have purchased the property at 201 18th St. S. in Birmingham. Public records show the purchase price for the property, on lots 8-10 of block 134, was $1.1 million.
The building, which is largely just a shell, has the phrase “You are beautiful” written in graffiti on the front, which has become a common way to refer to the building.
John Boone of Orchestra Partners told the BBJ that it is too soon to say what the property will be used for, but that the group was attracted to it because of the possibilities it holds to increase connections and walkability between the Midtown area and the Parkside District.
Orchestra Partners is currently working on the Founders Station project on First Avenue North and Morris Avenue, which is bringing condominium units to the city, as well as retail. The group also purchased property in Five Points South last year.
We recently included the “You are beautiful” property in a cover story on sites that might be prime for development because of proximity to burgeoning areas or to recent projects such as Pizitz and others.
