An automotive company based out of Spain is investing $30 million in a wheel assembly plant in Tuscaloosa County.
Truck & Wheel Group is building a 127,000-square-foot facility, which is set to open in Vance next year.
“Truck & Wheel Group is introducing advanced automation technology that is new to our region,” said Dara Longgrear, executive director of the Tuscaloosa County Industrial Development Authority. “They will make a good addition to our automotive cluster and our international community.”
The move is calculated to create more than 70 jobs in the facility that will assemble, sequence and balance wheels for delivery to automotive production lines.
The project is being developed by Graham & Co., and Cooper Construction is serving as general contractor.
Truck & Wheel has 26 branches in Spain, France, Germany, Portugal and Mexico.
Last year, Alabama’s auto industry passed the 10 million mark in cumulative auto production.
