Growing firm buys Hoover office building

Sam Carroll brokered the sale of 1550 Woods of Riverchase.  The property was purchased by Gonzalez Strength & Associates, Inc. for its new location.

A growing local company will move its office in Hoover after acquiring a nearby building.

Gonzalez-Strength & Associates, one of the Birmingham area’s largest engineering firms, will move to 1550 Woods of Riverchase Drive in Hoover this spring. Principal Jon Strength told the BBJ that the company has outgrown its current space and the new building is double the size.

The company has been located at 2176 Parkway Lake Drive, also in the Riverchase area of Hoover, for more than a decade. Gonzalez-Strength & Associates does civil engineering, pipeline surveying, transportation engineering and land planning among other services.

An LLC that includes Strength purchased the 22,816-square-foot building at 1550 Woods of Riverchase Drive for $3.35 million in a recent transaction. Sam Carroll of Graham & Co. brokered the deal.

Information from Graham & Co. shows the building was built in 2007 and is located near Interstate 65 and Valleydale Road.

Strength said the building is a good investment since it includes existing tenants and still has space for Gonzalez-Strength & Associates to continue to grow.

He said the company has been growing a lot in recent years, with work in the Birmingham area as well as in other places. Gonzalez-Strength & Associates has been involved in several major local projects including The Grove shopping center and Stadium Trace Village, among many others.

The company also recently opened a Tuscaloosa office, and Strength said the company added landscape architecture services to its offerings a few years ago, which has played a role in growth as well.
