Wyatt General Contractor LLC, a construction company that has recently ranked as one of Birmingham’s fastest growing companies, is moving its headquarters near downtown Birmingham.

Mary Wyatt, CEO and owner of the company, told the Birmingham Business Journal the company would move in July to the Day Building, which is located at 2826 Sixth Avenue South.

The company, which has 12 full-time employees, will take 2,200 square feet in the building. Wyatt General Contractors ranked on the BBJ’s FastTrack 30 List of the area’s fastest growing companies in 2016.

Wyatt General Contractor was previously located in Hoover.

Wyatt said one of the factors for the move was that she discovered it was one of her late husband’s goals to eventually move the company to the city center. Her husband, John, died after a plane crash in 2015.

“I wanted to do that and continue on that strategy that he was moving on,” she said.

Another factor is the fact that so many of the architects and contractors the company works with are located downtown. Wyatt is also working on a major project at UAB: the new police headquarters. Work began on that project about two months ago.
