Alabama Power Co. has purchased a Lakeshore Parkway property from Warrior Met Coal.
The Birmingham-based utility, a subsidiary of Southern Co. (NYSE: SO) purchased the property for $2,498,761 from the coal company.
An Alabama Power spokesperson said the purchase is related to planned work at an adjacent substation, which is located on the north side of Lakeshore, about midway between Shannon-Wenonah Road and where Lakeshore ends at Alabama 150.
The project would be part of the ongoing upgrades the company makes to maintain and improve reliability.
Alabama Power has purchased a number of properties in Birmingham over the years for similar projects around substations and other properties owned by the company.
