On March 19, 2019, Graham & Company proudly supported an event for Sight Savers America honoring Katherine K. Weise, OD, MBA, FAAO with the Hero For Sight Award. Dr. Weise became the UAB Pediatric Optometry Service Director in 2004 and has since helped provide eye care for over 50,000 children.  She has helped conduct the Correction of Myopia Evaluation Trial and was recently selected to lead the NIH-funded Pediatric Eye Disease Investigator Group’s study of myopia and low-dose atropine.

Dr. Weise’s local contributions include the creation of the mTBEye clinic with the Children’s of Alabama Concussion Clinic and BlazerVision.

She has also made generous donations of her time and capital to help SSA raise funds for children’s eye care and has introduced SSA programs to new partners throughout the United States.

Sight Savers America serves children in need of eye care through four unique programs; Children’s Eye Care Program, Low Vision Program, Children’s Vision Screening Program and Children’s Health Screening Program.  SSA positively impacts the lives of approximately 90,000 children each year in 15 states.
