A building on Montclair Road in Birmingham recently traded for nearly $3 million.

Baptist Health Systems sold 720 Montclair Rd. to Montclair Storage LLC for $2.85 million, according to Jefferson County public records. Walter Brown of Graham & Co. represented the seller in the deal, which closed recently.

As we have previously reported, the Birmingham City Council approved a zoning change for the building that will allow it to be redeveloped into a climate-controlled self storage facility.

The existing two-story building, built in 1990, is adjacent to the Levite Jewish Community Center on one side and Birmingham Baptist Association offices on the other side. The 50,000-square-foot building previously served as a medical office building for nearby Trinity Medical Center before the hospital’s move to Grandview Medical Center on U.S. 280 in 2015.

Commercial real estate brokers have said the Montclair area, including former Trinity Medical Center site, is beginning to experience some major activity.

A few miles away, a redevelopment is planned for part of the former Century Plaza Mall property which will also include self storage uses.
