Birmingham’s Graham & Co., the Tuscaloosa County Industrial Development Authority and others broke ground this week on a new built-to-suit industrial facility.
The new 127,000-square-foot building will be a state of the art wheel assembly factory for Truck & Wheel Group and is expected to create as many as 75 jobs in Vance. The group plans to use the facility to supply automotive manufacturers in the region.
Cooper Construction will serve as the general contractor on the development. According to a press release, the project is expected to be complete in the fall of 2017.
Graham & Co. said it anticipates finding another built-to-suit project for auto suppliers in the near future.
The development follows industrial brokers from Graham and others that have said the industrial market in the Birmingham area and state have benefited so much from the growth of the automotive sector that built-to-suit projects may become more common in coming months and years.
