By October 2015, the Southside is slated to have a new Veterans Affairs clinical annex.

The $50 million project has been touted as a shot in the arm for the Southside of Birmingham.

The project itself recently received a shot in the arm after developer Graham and Co. closed on the property at 2415 7th Ave. S. for $6.5 million.

The site, which was formerly a car dealership, will be part of the 70,000 square-foot facility along the north side of the 2400 block of University Blvd.

As previously reported, the VA hopes to be in the new annex by the fall of 2015. Many current employees will shift to the new facility.
