Homebuilder D.R. Horton Inc. plans to relocate its Birmingham office to Hoover, where it recently acquired a 26,000-square-foot building for $2.15 million.
Texas-based D.R. Horton plans to relocate its local office to the building at 2188 Parkway Lake Drive, which is off U.S. 31 southeast of the Riverchase Galleria, from 3570 Grandview Pkwy of U.S. 280, said Ogden Deaton, one of the deal’s brokers.
The company will fill the whole building, which was a build-to-suit for BISYS Document Solutions LLC, said Deaton, a broker with Graham & Co. LLC. BISYS’ lease recently expired.
Ogden Deaton and Sam Carroll represented seller 2188 Building LLC, an entity registered to local general contractor Gary C. Wyatt. Keith Hazelrig of John Keith Hazelrig Broker Inc. represented the buyer.
D.R. Horton’s expansion comes at a time of revival for the residential construction industry. D.R. Horton is one of the builders who are in talks with Black Orchid Equity about building new homes in the area.
