Event rental company Shaffer Sports & Events has purchased the former Long’s Electronics warehouse in Irondale for $1.65 million.
Shaffer bought the 92,000-square-foot warehouse at 2630 Fifth Ave. S. last month for $17.93 per square foot from Long’s Electronics Inc., according to multiple sources.
That building, built in 1973, was the last of Long’s showrooms to close as the company’s business wound down in 2011, according to a news report. Long’s was represented in the sale by Steve Mordecai of Southpace Properties Inc.
Houston-based Shaffer, which was represented in the sale by Ogden Deaton of Graham & Co. LLC, already has a metro Birmingham facility at 4983 Perimeter Parkway in Bessemer.
